I started working with Build A Miracle in January 2005. And from the very first day I was truly amazed at
the dedication and hard work of this very special group.

Also that same month tragedy struck in Tijuana. In separate accidents, two families lost children to
devastating mudslides brought on by heavy rains that had pummeled the area for days. The mudslides
not only took the lives of their children, but also took their homes as well. Their land was now
uninhabitable, and rebuilding was prohibited on what was left of the lots.

Just a few months later, seven other families living in Tijuana were evicted from their homes. The person
who sold them their land did not own it, and he swindled them all out of their life savings. With no money
left, and with nowhere else to go, these families set up camp living in the municipal dump.

Enter Build A Miracle.
Just a few months later, each of these nine families who faced such devastating personal loss are now
living in new homes. The homes are all located next to each other, and each has a view of the community
center that was built for use by the residents of this new Build A Miracle community.
